Spring Reading Thing 2011 (I Love Books!)

I'm all about the reading challenges this year and when I came across a Tweet about the Spring Reading Thing 2011, I couldn't resist joining.  I've been pondering those raw first drafts of NaNo novels lately and wondering if I'm ever going to really try my hand at finishing a novel.  Writing well and reading a lot go hand in hand, in my opinion, so I want to read more this year and include some of the genres I have written and/or want to try writing.

The Spring Reading Thing is simple in that you list the books you'd like to read this spring (March 20th-June 20th) and then you read them.  You're free to change and adapt your list as needed, which works well for me.  I like to choose books based on my mood of the moment.  You may add in your own goals if you like, the purpose is simply to read and share the love of reading with other bloggers.

So here goes nothing:

Read-Alouds with the Kids
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander

Fiction for Me

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Exile by RA Salvatore
Sojourn by RA Salvatore
The Crystal Shard by RA Salvatore
Streams of Silver by RA Salvatore
The Awakening by LJ Smith
Millie's Fling by Jill Mansel
(I want to try a chick flick and it was free for my Nook this last Friday.)
Believe by Erin Germain
Daughter of Legends by Crystal Marie Caron

These are all definitely subject to change based on my mood (I haven't even posted yet and I'm already second-guessing this list. Changes will come, GRIN). The current list consists mainly of series I have just started or am starting today, and a couple of books by friends (one published, one still in editing stage).  And I think I have too many listed.  So many books, so little time!

Non-Fiction

The Bible (Psalms-Revelation as I finish up Bible in 90 Days)
A Survivor's Guide to Homeschooling by Luanne Shackelford and Susan White
Reaping the Harvest: The Bounty of Abundant-Life Homeschooling by Diana Waring

Have you read anything on my list and want to share your thoughts?  What's on your list to read this Spring? Are you participating in this challenge? Leave a comment and I'll do my best to come visit you too! I love comments!

Ok, I love this!!! :) (Especially that you have listed The Princess Bride as your read aloud with the kids! AWESOME BOOK! :) ) I might just have to try my hand at a reading challenge.

@Crystal This is a great no pressure challenge. Jump on in, the water's fine!

@Trish I will usually devour series but I have so many on my To Be Read list right now that I'm unsure if I will actually stick with a series at this point. So many books to read! :-)

I have cassandra clare's books in the stacks as well. I love series and prefer to read one after the other. Haven't read anything by Salvator yet. Have to check him out. My list is up now.

I hope The Princess Bride becomes a family favorite. It is one of ours. I am behind on the "City" books, got to get back to them.

I just read The Book of Three and The Black Cauldron aloud with my 12-year-old. It's been fun to revisit one of my favorite middle school series.

Thanks for being part of SRT '11 -- enjoy your spring reading!

I love doing read-alouds with my older kids too, but I haven't been so good at it lately.

It's also hard for me to predict what I might read, because I read by mood too!
