My Husband Kicked Me Out

Mama's Losin' It

The Prompt:  1.) A story of love.

There's one word that strikes fear into the hearts of just about everyone.  So much so, that I almost didn't write this post.  There's a stigma attached to this word and anyone ever struck with this is loathe to admit it, for fear that no one will ever want to be near them again.  What is this horror I speak of?  Lice.

See?  You just scratched your suddenly itchy head, didn't you?  Yeah, me too.

I've spent twenty years, since giving birth to my first child, terrified of these little buggers.  After going through twenty years unscathed, I thought we may be home free.  Not so.  A friend's child contracted them from her public school and we dutifully checked our kids, "just in case".

Imagine my utter terror when I found one.

We immediately went into panic mode and treated everyone in the house.  Our two adult children moved out for a few days (if only I'd known it was that easy, heehee).  After 4 1/2 hours and $150 in medicated shampoos, we could not find anything. No lice, no nits.  Only the one louse that started it all.  With the terror these little creatures strike in my heart, one was enough to treat ourselves and the house as if infested.  We can't be too careful when it comes to these creepy suckers.  Quarantining the family, fully cleaning the house, and washing everything we own is in order.  For a house of nine people.  Yeah.

I was doing fine yesterday.  Today I lost it.  And that's where the title and theme of this post come into play.

My back does not like me (ever since being hit by a drunk driver 22 years ago!) and by Day 2 of Death to All Bugs, I find myself physically unable to be a whole lot of help.  All I'm good for is stressing, panicking, and feeling like an awful wife as I watch my husband work.  Oh, and I'm pretty good at telling him how he could be doing it better too.  Let's not forget that.  So he kicked me out of the house while he cleans and launders everything, with instructions not to return until dinnertime (which I'm cooking).

I'd call that love.  Or a desperate attempt at not losing his mind or killing his wife.  ;-)

I'll go with love.

And so here I sit, parked at the beach, scribbling this down in my notebook (I'll type it in and post when I get back.  Which is obviously what I'm doing right now.), a large Girl Scout Thin Mint iced coffee from MaryLou's and my Nook to keep me company.  All while my husband does laundry.

Yeah- that's love.

Perfect. I wish my hubby would kick me out sometimes! Uh, but because of lice (shivers) just to clean and such :)
I won't hold my breath...
Hope you enjoyed your time away (and your back was feeling better!)

You have me scratching everywhere. I'd be totally freaking out too. You are totally justified. What a lovely husband you have.

Well, glad you have found no others but the 1. And glad everything's getting cleaned. Sorry it had to be this way~ yay for wonderful hubbies! I'm so in the same boat as you~ as far as I can tell my husband how he could be doing something better. That is a hard thing to control, but something I'm working on.

I can relate! I looked at every speck under a microscope for 6 months after one of my students shared his bugs with me. Gotta go scratch, now.

I would call it love too. Knock on wood (just did) lice has never hit my home, but my son is only four!
