2011 Reading Challenges

I have been completely inspired by my friend Lizzie!  I'm jumping into several reading challenges for this year and wanted to share them with you.  Check them out below and see if something interests you as well.

This one is exactly what it says- Read 52 books in 52 weeks.  They can be any books of your choice!  This is the one I participated in last year and greatly enjoyed.  It has inspired me to join in a few more challenges for 2011!
  1. Soulless - Gail Carriger

There are 4 levels to this challenge. You may choose from:
  1. Curious – Read 3 Fantasy Fiction novels.
  2. Fascinated – Read 6 Fantasy Fiction novels.
  3. Addicted – Read 12 Fantasy Fiction novels.
  4. Obsessed – Read 20 Fantasy Fiction novels.
I think I will start with Addicted and see how it goes from there.  I have several fantasy novels on my Nook right now and am wondering how far I can stretch the genre.  My current read is a steampunk vampire story, I'm thinking that will count!

  1. Soulless - Gail Carriger

There are four levels for this one as well.  They are:

-- Curious – Read 3 e-books.

-- Fascinated – Read 6
e-books.

-- Addicted – Read 12
e-books.

-- Obsessed – Read
20 e-books.

I am loving my Nook, so I'm thinking I'll go for Obsessed with this one.
Nooktastic! Nookalicious! I love you, Nookums!

  1. Soulless - Gail Carriger

Again, we have four levels:

--The Mini YA Reading Challenge – Read 12 Young Adult novels.

--The "Fun Size" YA Reading Challenge – Read 20 Young Adult novels.

--The Jumbo Size YA Reading Challenge – Read 40 Young Adult novels.

--The Mega size YA Reading Challenge – Read 50+ Young Adult novels.

I'm thinking I will start off with the Mini.  YA is the genre I really would love to write in, so it'd be great to spend some time reading more YA books.

This one's cool and has a little different twist to it- you must read books from their list of blogger recommendations and no re-reads are allowed.  Sounds like fun and there are many on their list that I have been wanting to read, so here goes nothing!

There are 5 levels for this challenge.

The Levels:
Level I - Read 5 books from the 2010 Book Blogger Recommendation List
Level II - Read 10 books
Level III - Read 15 books
Level IV - Read 20 books
Level V - Read 20+ books

I will try for Level III, and may move up to Level IV. I have 18 books listed below, I just need to grab 2 more before the end of the year to make it to Level IV.
  1. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
  2. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
  3. The Host - Stephenie Meyer
  4. Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
  5.  Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare
  6.  The Fellowship of the Ring - J. R. R. Tolkien
  7. Soulless - Gail Carriger
  8. The Princess Bride - William Goldman
  9. Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
  10. Inkheart - Cornelia Funke
  11. Dune - Frank Herbert
  12. Enchantment - Orson Scott Card
  13. Persuasion - Jane Austen
  14. The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffennegger
  15. A Song of Ice and Fire - George RR Martin
  16. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-Smith
  17. The Watchers - Dean Koontz
  18. Secret Vampire - L. J. Smith

I hope you will join me in one or more of these challenges!  Cheerleaders are welcome too!

I've read several on your blogger recommended list and I'd recommend them too! Of course, there are also a couple on my TBR list and one I'm not too sure about.

I'm official at Read 52 books in 52 weeks but haven't decided on the others yet. I love fantasy, YA and ebooks so I may end up joining you

Yay! Love having people to "play" with! ;-)

@BookDragon, you are evil. Now I'll have to check out that site and I'm sure I'll find something else I just *have* to join! I just need to figure out a system to keep track of all of these challenges! And now I really want to know which book you're not too sure of that is on my list. Inquiring minds and all!
